Khái niệm thì hiện tại đơn

Thì hiện tại đơn trong tiếng Anh diễn tả một hành động diễn ra thường xuyên, sự thật, điều hiển nhiên.

Các trường hợp sử dụng thì hiện tại đơn:

1. Hành động diễn ra thường xuyên
2. Thói quen
3. Mô tả thực tế
4. Điều hiển nhiên

Như vậy, 3 từ khóa để ta nhớ khái niệm thì hiện tại đơn trong tiếng Anh đó là: thường xuyên, sự thật và hiển nhiên.

Công thức thì hiện tại đơn

Động từ trong câu ở thì hiện tại đơn được giữ nguyên mẫu hoặc thêm s/es

Chủ từ	Động từ
I / you / we / they	Nguyên mẫu
he / she / it	Thêm s hoặc es trong các trường hợp đặc biệt

Ví dụ:

• I speak English at home.
• He speaks English at home.

Khi chủ từ là ngôi thứ ba số ít (he/she/it):

• Nếu động từ không rơi vào trường hợp đặc biệt, ta thêm s vào sau động từ. Ví dụ:
  • speak -> speaks
  • eat -> eats
  • sing -> sings
  • …
• Các trường hợp đặc biệt:
  1. Động từ kết thúc bằng ký tự o, ch, sh, ss, x, hoặc z. Ví dụ:
     • go – goes
     • catch – catches
     • wash – washes
     • kiss – kisses
     • fix – fixes
     • buzz – buzzes
     • …
  2. Động từ kết thúc bằng phụ âm + ký tự y –> thay y bằng ies. Ví dụ:
     • marry – marries
     • study – studies
     • carry – carries
     • worry – worries
     • …
  3. Động từ kết thúc bằng âm câm + ký tự y –> thêm s. Ví dụ:
     • play – plays
     • enjoy – enjoys
     • say – says
     • …

Câu phủ định thì hiện tại đơn

Chủ từ	Động từ
I / you / we / they	do not (hoặc viết tắt là don't) + động từ nguyên mẫu
he / she / it	does not (hoặc viết tắt là doesn't) + động từ nguyên mẫu

Ví dụ:

• I don't speak English at home.
• He doesn't play badminton.

Câu hỏi thì hiện tại đơn

Từ hỏi	Chủ từ	Động từ
Do	I / you / we / they	động từ nguyên mẫu + ?
Does	he / she/ it	động từ nguyên mẫu + ?
-wh question + do	I / you / we / they	động từ nguyên mẫu + ?

Ví dụ:

• How much does Pauline love pie?

Cách dùng thì hiện tại đơn

Thì hiện tại đơn mô tả hành động diễn ra thường xuyên

Hành động diễn ra thường xuyên là các hành động lặp đi lặp định kì:

• I take the train to the office. / Tôi đi tàu hỏa đến văn phòng làm việc.
• The train to Berlin leaves every hour. / Tàu hỏa rời Berlin mỗi giờ. / Mỗi giờ có 1 chuyến tàu hỏa rời Berlin.
• John sleeps eight hours every night during the week. / John ngủ 8 tiếng mỗi đêm suốt tuần.

Định kì ở đây rất đa dạng, có thể là hàng giờ, hàng ngày, hàng tuần, hàng tháng, …

Thì hiện tại đơn mô tả thói quen

Thói quen của mỗi người hình thành nhờ các hoạt động thường xuyên của người đó. Một số thói quen như là: dậy sớm, đánh răng, nghe nhạc trên xe buýt, ngủ trưa, …

• I get up early every day. / Tôi dậy sớm mỗi ngày. / Tôi có thói quen dậy sớm.
• Carol brushes her teeth twice a day. / Carol đánh răng hai lần trong ngày.
• They travel to their country house every weekend. / Họ về quê mỗi tuần.

Thì hiện tại đơn diễn tả thực tế

Các yếu tố sự thật được mô tả bởi thì hiện tại đơn:

• The President of The USA lives in The White House. / Tổng thống Mỹ ở trong Nhà Trắng.
• A dog has four legs. / Con chó có bốn chân.
• We come from Switzerland. / Chúng tôi đến từ Switzerland.

Thì hiện tại đơn nói lên điều hiển nhiên

Điều hiển nhiên là điều tự nhiên đúng, không cần phải bàn cãi:

• It rains a lot in winter. / Trời mưa nhiều vào mùa đông.
• The Queen of England lives in Buckingham Palace. / Nữ hoàng Anh sống ở cung điện Buckingham.
• They speak English at work. / Họ nói tiếng Anh giờ làm việc.
